Dental Implants Reviews
"I want to punch myself in the face for not writing this review any sooner (but not too hard because I wouldn't want to jeopardize my teeth). I must have been on such a high after my dental implant, specifically the crown work that Dr.Wong did for me, that the review slipped my mind. First of all, let me start by saying that Dr.Wong and I go way back...to five years ago when I moved to the DFW area and he became my dentist. He instantly won me over after just the first appointment with his calm, NON-SALESY (it's a word) nature. I love that he didn't try to sell me teeth whitening, or fillings, or crown replacements "because the ones I have seem to be failing" which I've heard from other dentists in the past...he's the real deal, an honest dentist who really cares about his patients! Dr. Wong is so honest and trustworthy that only he was able to convince me, after my consult a year ago, that a dental implant would be my best option. He walked me through a few alternatives, told me the pros/cons to each, and told me that he would go with the dental implant if faced with the same circumstance. I'm so glad he encouraged me to move forward and introduced me to Dr. Chang who did the actual implant. They made quite the dynamic duo and I would recommend them to anyone. I will warn you, Dr. Wong has become so popular that he/his staff are often booked at least three months in advance. So if you're in the market for a new dentist, or this review just made you realize Dr. Wong is a better choice for you, make sure you call to make an appointment right away. I promise you won't regret the decision and your beautiful new smile as a result."- M.K. / Yelp / Dec 01, 2015
Best Candidates for Dental Implants
Implant dentistry can restore a single missing tooth or several teeth by connecting it to an implant-supported bridge, crown, or denture. You may enjoy an implant if you have a dental restoration, but are bothered by the appearance, comfort, or special cleaning that is required. Implant-supported restorations can be cared for just like your regular teeth, with daily flossing and brushing. In your consultation, Dr. Wong will evaluate the health of your jawbone and gums to decide if you are a good candidate for implant dentistry. In some cases, a bone or gum graft surgery may be needed prior to implant surgery to strengthen the implant's foundation. Dental implant surgery is not a good choice if you use tobacco products, are pregnant, or are in treatment for another condition, including gingivitis.
What To Expect
To prepare for your dental implants, you may have teeth extracted, plus gum or bone grafts. As soon as you are ready for the implant to be placed, the needed areas will be given local anesthesia to numb your mouth. Sedation methods may be included to keep you comfortable throughout the process. Your dentist will create an incision in your gums and then insert the titanium post in your jawbone. The incision in the gums will be sutured closed with part of the implant above the gums. This will be repeated if several implants are required. While the dental implant integrates into the jawbone and gums over the next several months, a temporary cover will be used to cover and protect the implants. As soon as your dentist decides your implant is healed with your gums and jaw, your custom restoration (bridge, crown, or denture) can be connected to your implant and adjusted for a proper fit.
You may notice some short-term inflammation in your mouth and lower face, plus discomfort, bruising, and minor bleeding after your implant procedure. Your dentist will tell you what is expected and what should be reported to our office. They may also write a prescription for pain relievers and antibiotics. As soon as your dental implants are integrated and your customized restoration is connected, you should maintain a good oral care routine at home, that includes flossing, brushing, and mouthwash. You should attend annual dental exams and bi-annual professional cleanings at Brian Wong D.D.S. P.A. so we can track the health of your implants and restorations. It will be decided if your restorations or implants should be repaired or replaced.
Based on your dental insurance company and exact coverage, a portion of the expenses of your implant surgery and custom restoration might be paid. We will talk to your insurance company to understand your policy and determine your out-of-pocket costs. In your consultative appointment, one of our financial team members will estimate your expenses and talk to you about payment methods, along with information on low-interest medical financing.
